Welcome to Rebel Rumble!

This is a Gameplay Mod for Doom 2 that replaces everything related to MS Paint Cartoony weapons and stuff. The mod itself concentrates on good ol' shoot-em-up arcade games like Raiden, Total Carnage, Smash TV and more. You'll recognize some assets here and there because i made this one to tribute such awesome and excitin games.

And here are some feature this mod has:

  • Collect and scud your way through with over 13 interesting and hilarious Weapons!
  • Use your belongings, like S.P.A.M mine and other powerups to save your one-hit day!
  • Gain your Power Points, launch the Bomb and watch the wonderful view-
  • The enemies have shmup-based attack patterns to roll you over, but worry not! You just
    can swing your weapons to reflect their shots!
  • Save the unfortunately lost couples and get some reward!
  • Adventurers beware, Easter Eggs are hiding in this mod!
  • Nice and dandy music replacements from the Inspired game; Total Carnage itself, and more!

And i'm not responsible for awkward errors and stuff after playing the game along with other doom mods. It should be played with no other mods but official ones.

Can't believe i took this log to find this mod. This is amazing, just wish i could play Revoltte without getting immediately decimated though =(

She can die in one hit, sure. But her melee attack reflects enemy projectiles and even grant you temp invulnerability on every time you swing! Also SPAM mines have the same reflection effect, as well.

I can see that the game can get rather hectic despite having said benefits. So i’m considering to add some sort of extra shield item? Not decided yet

Oh i actually tried her again in a less chaotic map after posting the comment, and i figured out that she had that ability, i think it should be in the help screen. After trying her i thought she was kind of op actually lol.

I don't think an extra shield is that necessary (maybe if it granted just a couple frames of invulnerability after a hit?), but i think my skills in doom might be above average so maybe other people would find that item helpful.

Anyway, i really liked this mod, the fast paced action and resource management you have to do with the weapons is really fun, so either way i'd love to see more content for this mod! Definetely one of my favorites.

I love Revel Rumble and recently started playing with Super MAYhem 17 and I started to think it felt a bit too easy. After testing, it seems for some reason Resisto is basically immortal in this mappack. When in a critical state, any further hits will just put you back in the temporary invincibility state. Then, when this fades and you take another hit, you just go back to temporary invincibility again, never dying. This doesn't happen with any other mappack, using the same settings, so this is clearly the megawad's fault (maybe something to do with the hit feedback that it includes ?). Is there anything I can do to fix it ?

I did my best fixing Resisto’s crippling immortal glitch, but it seems doesn’t entirely provide stability in some mentioned map packs. Maybe it’s related to health boost or healing outside the mod? I might look for a different method to replace this wonky code.

Again, this must be either addons’ or map packs’ custom stuff where they grant you max health item or upgrade. You might need to take it off via SLADE or give Revoltte a try while i’m solving this. Sorry for your inconvenience!

That's ok, didn't know that was a known issue ;) That's indeed a weird one. I'll try to give a look at Mayhem 17's WAD, see if they have any custom entities in there (beyond the custom enemies. But I'll probably play Revoltte on that mappack and keep Resisto for other packs :)

In all cases, with the wave of GZDoom's based paid games that are upcoming I wouldn't mean seeing your visual and gameplay style join the fray !

Usually the problem occurred despite the fix when Resisto got the Health bonus or certain upgrade, in my experience. Both characters only have 1 health, meaning they should die upon taking a hit. Two hits for Resisto occasionally.

And i’m not sure what you mean by the latter words, but thanks for the comment!

Ah well that would be because I mistyped xD I meant I wouldn't mind seeing a project with your visual style and gameplay style join the long line of GZDoom-based commercial projects ;)

As for Resisto he can take a hit before dying when grabbing the big treasures right ? I did some other testing, and even in the first map, without picking up anything, it happens. That's really weird but as I said, I don't mind it that much !

The Injured Portrait hides the level stats in Automap mode.

Some issues are either intended to follow the original game’s mechanic and is just a bad luck where you can’t reach the items spawned from enemies. It’s like one of those Plutonia maps.

Anyways i just checked out the typo and the issue you’ve mentioned. Did my best to fix them. Thanks again for the feedback!

Great mod as always, but I wish there was a way to get the items that drop out of map limits or in unreachable places - without cheating, that is.

Ah, and for whatever reason, extra SPAM mines can still be picked up even if you are at maximum capacity. It feels like a bit of a waste...

Finally, I spotted quite a few typos in LANGUAGE.txt. If you want me to, I can proofread it for you!
